Course Guide for CHEM 1715 - Fall 2023

This course is designed to introduce students to the emerging areas of research and development in chemistry through seminar presentations. The course will include skills, techniques and safety issues of conducting experiments in the laboratory.

Learning Objectives:

1. Identify essential resources for research in the field of chemistry
2. Describe the global impact and interdependence of the chemistry disciplines on careers, such as industry and academia
3. Critically examine how to prepare notebooks and identify key features to accurately and ethically record information, chemical structures, methodology, and evidence in a laboratory setting
4. Develop and refine career planning documents to help transition undergraduate student into the job-field and research environment
