Need help with something in CougarVIEW? Good news! We have a number of guides to show you how to use the many tools and resources in CougarVIEW. These guides cover topics like using the grade book, setting up quizzes, creating groups, and many more.

Import course components

Overview : Importing course components with existing names or duplicates won't overwrite; duplicate names persist. For instance, importing a discussion topic may result in multiple topics with the same name. Similarly, when importing a grade scheme, it copies only if unique, not associated with a duplicate grade item in the course offering.

  1. In the course you're importing components into, navigate to the navigation bar. Then, select Course Admin > Import/Export/Copy Components.
    Import export copy components
  2. On the Import/Export/Copy Components page, select Import Components.
  3. Select Start.
    Select import component

  4. Select the file you want to import.
  5. Choose whether to Import All Components or Select Components and then follow the prompts.
    Import course package

  6. To review and manage course dates, select Review and Manage Dates.

If you import course components with names that already exist in the course, or you import multiple components with the same name, duplicate names appear; they are not overwritten. For example, if your course contains a discussion topic called Exam Review and you import a course package that contains a discussion topic called Exam Review, your course will contain two topics called Exam Review.
Note: When importing a course, if you previously had text in the quiz Introduction field, this text is automatically appended to the quiz Description field.
