CougarVIEW Instructor Guides: Add assessments

Need help with something in CougarVIEW? Good news! We have a number of guides to show you how to use the many tools and resources in CougarVIEW. These guides cover topics like using the grade book, setting up quizzes, creating groups, and many more.

Add assessments to a quiz

  1. On the navbar, click Quizzes.

    Quizzes menu option

  2. On the Manage Quizzes page, from the context menu of the quiz you want to add assessments, click Edit.

    Select Edit quiz

  3. On the Assessment tab > Assessment area, do any of the following:

  • To grade quiz attempts immediately, select the Allow attempt to be set as graded immediately upon completion check box.
Note: When this setting is turned on users can see their score as soon as they submit their attempt. The score displayed is only what the system can auto-grade.
This setting must be turned on for grades to be automatically sent to the grade book, and for the default submission view to be released to users when they complete an attempt.
Written Response questions will be marked as 0 until manually graded.
  • Select an existing numeric grade item or click Add grade item to create a new grade.
  • If a grade item is associated with the quiz, you can set quiz results to automatically export to the grade book by selecting the Allow automatic export to grades check box.

Note: If the Allow attempt score to be seen immediately upon completion check box is not selected, you must set attempts as marked in the Grade Quiz page to populate the grade book with attempt scores.
